Maternal age as a risk factor for cerebral palsy

چکیده
The relationship between maternal age and the occurrence of cerebral palsy is still highly controversial. aim study was to examine effect on risk CP development, taking into account all significant factors division single, twin, full-term, pre-term pregnancies. survey covered 278 children with attending selected educational institutions in Poland. control group consisted data collected from medical records 435 born at Limanowa county hospital, analyses included socio-economic factors, related pregnancy childbirth, presence comorbidities diseases child. Constructed logistic regression models were used for statistical analyses. For categories estimated (assessing demographic development CP), only category ≤24 years (in children) significant. It that this mother’s category, lower (OR 0.6, 95% CI: 0.3–1.0) comparison mothers aged 25-29 (p = 0.03). However, estimation use a complex model did not show any incidence groups different pregnancies types. became apparent weak predictor CP, insignificant final model. seems correct assume studies conducted so far, showing respect, may be associated bias estimators assess due fact other important research.

Thrombophilia: a risk factor for cerebral palsy?
BACKGROUND The cause of cerebral palsy remains unknown in most cases. Factor V Leiden mutation, a common cause of hereditary thrombophilia, has been associated with CP. OBJECTIVES To analyze the prevalence of factor V Leiden (G1691A), prothrombin (G20210A), and methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (C677T) mutations in children with CP. METHODS Sixty-one Jewish and Arab children with CP were ...
متن کاملMaternal age as a risk factor for hypospadias.
PURPOSE Hypospadias incidence rates have been widely reported to be increasing. During the last 20 years there has been a significant increase in the number of women who delay childbearing until their mid 30s. Therefore, it was of interest to determine if increasing maternal age is an independent risk factor for hypospadias. MATERIALS AND METHODS Data from the New York State Department of Hea...
متن کاملMaternal Betaine Homocysteine Methyltransferase Gene Polymorphism as a Risk Factor for Trisomy
Disorder in re-methylation process of homocysteine to methionine due to mutation in betaine homocysteine methyltransferase enzyme (BHMT) coding gene, leads to decrease in S-adenosyl methionine (SAM) synthesis which takes part in DNA methylation as a methyl donor. As a result, it can promote hypo-methylation of DNA, chromosome instability, and chromosome missegregation, which in turn is one of t...
متن کاملMaternal Periodontal Disease as a Potential Risk Factor for Preterm Birth and Low Birth Weight
Background and Aim: Periodontal disease may cause adverse pregnancy outcomes such as low birth weight (LBW) or preterm birth (PTB). In the present study, mothers with one of these two delivery complications were analyzed regarding presence/absence of periodontal disease as a possible risk factor in comparison with related medical risk factors. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectiona...
متن کاملChorioamnionitis as a risk factor for cerebral palsy: A meta-analysis.
CONTEXT Chorioamnionitis has been implicated in the pathogenesis of cerebral palsy, but most studies have not reported a significant association. Cystic periventricular leukomalacia (cPVL) is believed to be a precursor of cerebral palsy in preterm infants. OBJECTIVES To determine whether chorioamnionitis is associated with cerebral palsy or cPVL and to examine factors that may explain differe...
